next contestant on The Price is Right.”
“We certainly do, Bob!”
“Well, please tell us what the next prize is for our nice young, soon to be middle-aged, man”.
“Okay, Bob, I will! Edwin, we have something for you that you’ve been waiting a long time for. Brace yourself, Edwin, while two of our Barker’s Beauties show you the next prize on ‘The Price Is Right’. And, here it is, rolling its way onto our stage. It’s…
A NEW JOB!!!”
Yep, I got a new job! I will be a personal assistant to an elderly, male stroke victim. Finally, a job! Yipee! I don’t necessarily like that this man had a stroke, but I am happy about having the job. Elated actually. He has a wife who has Alzheimer’s Disease, but she has her own PA. I may have to spend some time alone with both of them but not long, and the agency I’m working for (Home Instead) will provide me with training on how to handle Alzheimer’s clients in general (and this one, specifically).
It just feels damn good to be working again. It’s been well over a year since my last job, and not working (whether or not one has a mental disorder) can be somewhat depressing. And, besides the little boost in self-esteem, the paycheck will be nice.
Orientation is next Tuesday from 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM. I should begin work shortly afterward (possibly the next day). A little nervous but nothing out of the ordinary…the good kind of nervous. I’m really looking forward to it!
Best wishes to all…
