Bumper Stickers Are Dumb

Cars with
Bumper stickers are
Usually
Owned by people with
Strong opinions

From the little boy pissing
On a Chevy or Ford
To an evangelical’s
Praise the Lord!

From the
I support the NRA!
To
Have you hugged your
Kid today?

Bumper sticker people
Think they have something
Important to say
I don’t think so

They want
People to believe
What they believe
So they put their beliefs

On the rear end of their cars
Truth is
Most of those bumper stickers
Belong on their own
Rear ends

One bumper sticker I read
Was cool…in a trashy
Tattoo in the small of the back
Kind of way
Which isn’t always bad

It read
If you’re going to ride my ass
You may as well pull my hair
The girl driving the car
Was attractive
She was driving an old beater
For a car
A few weeks later I noticed this
Girl working at Wal-Mart
Sam would be proud

Another dumb bumper sticker
Is the one that says
I support the Illinois Sheriff’s Association
Those people buy those stickers
To try to get out of traffic tickets
I’ll have to ask a deputy
If that ploy
Really works
If it does
Then perhaps it is the smartest
Bumper sticker on the road

Three kinds of people
Those who have bumper stickers
Those who don’t
And those who profit from
Selling bumper stickers

Those who have bumper stickers
Don’t have a clue
They just want everyone to know
Their opinions

Those who don’t
Could give two shits
About anyone else’s opinion
And figure that the average
Joe and Josie
Could give two shits
About theirs

Those who profit
From bumper stickers
Are like drug traffickers
They know that some people
Are addicted
While some are not
Exploitation is the greatest form of
Contempt for the poor addicts
These are the worst

Bumper stickers are
Dumb
I’m a hypocrite
Bumper stickers are
Still dumb

November 18, 2010

Been a while since I’ve posted here. Thought it might be nice to revisit this place. I will most likely focus on writings that I have composed. Of course, my personal views on some topics will undoubtedly reveal themselves; however, I think that taking the focus away from my private life (which has been rather hectic over the past several months) and onto my actual writings will serve me (and hopeful you) better. After all, the title of this blog is “A Writer’s Bloc”.

Best wishes…

Edwin

P.S. Yes, I missed you, and yes, it’s good to be back.
